We will wear the Summer Performance Attire every Friday through September 15th.

Non-fitting items can be exchanged or picked up Thursday & Friday mornings this week between 8:15 and 8:45 in the band hall.

Itinerary for Friday, August 25th

6:45am         Marching Band Rehearsal in Stadium (wearing Viper marching shoes)


4:15pm         Change into performance attire (show shirt, band shorts, black socks, & Vipers)

4:30pm         Roll check in Friday night band hall seating block

4:40pm         Band meeting & inspection

4:55pm         Walk to stadium

5:00pm         Free Hotdog Social with CHS Band at Stadium

Snow Cone Truck – Bring $ if you want to purchase a snow cone

6:00pm         Return to band hall

6:10pm         Move items needed for parking lot rehearsal

6:30pm         Begin brief rehearsal on parking lot

7:30pm         Move to stadium seating to watch final moments of CHS rehearsal

8:00pm         Spartan Band Performance of “Carmen” 2 times

8:30pm         Elk Band Performance of “Carnival” 2 times

8:55pm         Combined performance by CHS & BHS Bands “Land of 1000 Dances”

9:00pm         Put things away – Take Vipers, instruments, and music home. Practice!

We are still in need of adult volunteers for Saturday’s contest…the largest UIL event we have ever hosted here at Burleson High School. If you can give 5-6 hours of your time on Saturday, Oct. 15th, we have a place for you. It will be fun!

Dear Band Parents & Students,

LOTS OF THINGS ARE HAPPENING DURING THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK…
1. This Friday, Oct. 7th, is an early release day.
2. Students will be released at 12:45.
3. Students may not stay at school between 12:45 and 4:30.
4. The band will report at 4:30 wearing all Friday night gear and attire (show shirt, black “band” shorts, black socks, & Dinkles. Black gloves are also necessary!
5. The boosters will feed the students their normal Friday night meal before the game.
6. Students will wear their bibbers home on Friday night due to the early report time Saturday morning before the rehearsal in the stadium (7:15 a.m.).
8. We will hold a MARCHING BAND CLINIC from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the STADIUM MONDAY. NIGHT (even though classes will not be held during the day). This is a REQUIRED REHEARSAL. It has been on the calendar since July.
9. Our UIL Contest is the following Saturday, Oct. 15th. We host! We need to earn a ONE!
10. A UIL CONTEST WORKERS MEETING WILL BE HELD TUESDAY NIGHT, OCT. 11, AT 7:00 IN THE BAND HALL. CONTEST WORKER FORM

First Day Letter to Parents

Please RETURN THIS LETTER (signed on both sides) before the end of this week. This states that you have read the Band Handbook and Marching Band Acknowledgment Form (Eight Hour Rule)

Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser 4/8/16

Dessert Sales: We are asking each household (with help from band student) to provide ONE cake or similar dessert dish to be sold. These desserts must be delivered to the BHS Cafeteria by 5:30 pm on April 8th. Your student may bring it to school (in the morning) or after school between 5:00 and 5:30 p. m. Additionally, we ask that you please send your dessert dish on a disposable platter, as it is very difficult to return dishes after the event.

Guaranteed “seating” is only for those patrons who have purchased tickets…After all…It is a fundraiser! (for the private lesson scholarship fund for next fall and for a storage building/unit).

Family members may come to hear each group perform for free, but they may have to stand if they choose not to purchase tickets.

All students should be in proper attire at call time…in red below.

Band Student Attire: Boys…Tuxes with bow ties. Girls: Concert gowns with closed toed shoes.

Winterguard: Show costumes with corresponding make-up
