In the Burleson Band Program, every wind player has the opportunity to take a second period of band, if their schedule allows. Learning about music by developing ensemble skills and reading additional music in a second band related class is an opportunity few other programs can offer!
Available by audition only, the jazz band studies the first truly American musical art form and all of its sub-genres: swing, blues, latin, funk, rock, and an introduction to improvisation.
The jazz band consists of saxophones, trombone, trumpets, piano, bass guitar, electric guitar, and drum set. Some musicians are able to double on a secondary instrument (french horn players doubling on trumpet, etc.).
New to the 2020-2021 Course Catalog, Chamber Winds will be open for any wind student that wants to play in extra ensembles and study the repertoire of the wind band. There are no audition requirements for this class. The only requirement is that the student already be enrolled in either Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, or Concert Winds.
